Introduction:
Formerly known as the Louisiana State University and established in 1956 as a result of the citizens’ endeavor to bring tax supported higher education to the metropolitan area, the institute was initially set up as a liberal arts college. With passing years Louisiana State University expanded by acquiring several colleges, schools and institutes and by 1969 it emerged as the second largest university in Louisiana. It earned its present official name in 1974 and with time the University of New Orleans has grown to become a major urban research university. The University of New Orleans aims at providing quality education among all sections of the society by providing academic excellence and it also ensures that the deserving and needy students are not deprived. UNO makes every effort to provide financial aids in the form of grants, loans, scholarships, student employment to assist students carry on their courses.

Admission Procedures:
University of New Orleans (UNO), LA follows an open admission policy and students can apply online or by visiting the office of admissions. Generally ACT scores or SAT scores are accepted along with a non-refundable fee. International students are required to submit TOEFL scores for getting an admission to the University.
Accommodation facilities:
University of New Orleans provides campus housing facilities to its students as it considers residential living to be an integral part of the complete educational system by creating an environment conducive to learning. There are residence hall for both men and women. The UNO main campus contains twenty-three permanent buildings plus a dormitory, a housing complex for married students and a complex of contemporary, apartment-styled, student-housing units. Pontchartrain Hall is a brand new residence hall, featuring 4 bedroom and 2 bedroom & 1 bath Suite Style living. A meal plan is also provided to the students.
