Introduction:
Set up in 1919 along with three other community colleges in Kansas, Garden City Community College shifted to the Garden City High School building in 1954. GCCC again shifted base to Sabine and Calkins Halls and emerged as a separate entity from the Garden City public school system in 1965. It is now recognized as one of the 19 Kansas community colleges. GCCC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and by the Kansas State Board of Nursing and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission in its Nursing programs. GCCC continues to provide academic excellence to its students irrespective of their class, religion, caste or creed. The main focus of GCCC is to create academic interest in various fields by counseling the students into appropriate programs and to assist them in achieving educational and also professional excellence in the long run of life.

Garden City Community College (GCCC) offers several programs or Centers of Excellence and also takes every measure in providing financial aids to deserving candidates in the form of loan, grants and scholarships. Admission Procedures:
Garden City Community College (GCCC) follows an open admission policy. However students seeking admission to GCCC are required to be a graduate of an accredited high school, and should have successfully completed GED examination. A transfer student should be from a regionally accredited college or university and a high school junior or senior student should have a written permission from the high school principal. Students above 18 are also required to clear the GCCC assessment tests. GCCC accepts complete application from the applicants. Applicants should provide an official high school transcript along with final grades or an official copy of GED scores. Official transcript from the college/ university attended should be submitted along with ACT scores for application of achieving scholarships.
